For thousands of years and in almost every culture, it was understood that crossing the threshold into manhood was something to be actively guided, supported and celebrated by the community. The responsibility of the elders being to offer insights into the nature of mature masculinity, and its relationship to the world at large. As culture grows increasingly more complex, with many men feeling lost or uninspired, the need for such work is as important now as ever before.

WHO IS IT FOR
This rite of passage walk is for young men aged 18 to 23 who are ready to challenge themselves, connect more deeply with who they are, and take meaningful steps into adulthood. Whether they’re feeling lost, curious, stuck, or simply seeking something more real — this journey is for them.

THE PATH WE WALK
Over 6 days, we’ll travel on foot from the sacred valley of Gougane Barra to the wild western shores of the Beara peninsula. Along the way, we camp outdoors in tents, share food around the fire, share stories and song, and face challenges designed to awaken strength, clarity, and connection.

This isn’t a walk in the park — it’s a real journey with real meaning. Each day on the trail and each night under the stars is part of a larger process that has been crafted with care, respect, and deep intention.

COST & ACCESISIBILITY
We aim to keep the cost as low as possible. The base cost is €211. This programme is offered on a cost plus donation basis: your €211 covers food, logistics, and necessities, and if you feel called, you may choose to donate to the facilitators at the end of the walk in exchange for their time and efforts.

There are limited concession places available — please reach out if cost is a barrier. We believe this kind of work should be accessible to all who feel called.

A group of courageous young men will take a six day journey across the wild landscape of Ireland with the opportunity to explore their own depths, capacities and potential; to become authors of their own lives and to show up in the world as active and fuller versions of themselves.

This is not just a walk, but a guided rite of passage, rooted in ancient traditions and shaped by modern understanding. Through physical challenge, time in nature, honest conversation, skill sharing and ritual, each young man is invited to explore the opportunities, challenges and responsibilities of stepping into mature adulthood.

By the end of the journey, you won’t just feel different — you’ll BE different.

PARENTS & GUARDIANS
We encourage each participant to invite their parents or guardians to be present at the beginning and end of this journey. These threshold moments — departure and return — hold deep significance, and your presence can affirm the shift they are making into a new phase of life.

If you're reading this as someone who cares for a young man stepping into adulthood, know that this is your journey too. To witness the crossing of this threshold is a powerful act — a moment to begin seeing him not as a boy, but as an emerging, authentic man. Your presence offers recognition, support, and trust, and helps release him into the responsibility and possibility of this next chapter.
